Tradycyjne metody są skuteczne
Ostatnio natrafiłem na stronę szkoły językowej Go! Languages, na której to przedstawiono 9 powodów dla których szkoła nie stosuje metody Callana. O ile nie mam nic przeciwko szkołom które podejmują taką decyzje - jak i nie mam nic przeciwko szkołom które podejmują przeciwną - o tyle argumantacja zjeżyła mi (dość krótki) włos na głowie. W 9 kolejnych wpisach postanowiłem co nieco omówić zagadnienie. Zaczynamy od powodu numer 2:
„2. Metoda Callana to tylko hasła bez dowodów.
"Szkoły" Callana reklamują się jako uczące "4 * szybciej" ?? nie ma na to jednak żadnego niezależnego, obiektywnego, naukowego dowodu. To tylko reklamowy haczyk na naiwniaków. „
Twierdzenia metody Callana oparte są na danych statystycznych zbieranych na przestrzeni ponad 20 lat. Twierdzenia te wynikają z danych statystycznych a nie na odwrót. To, że niektóre szkoły starające się stosować metodę Callana nie osiągają podobnych wyników, wynika z problemów szkoły, a nie metody. Ciężko jest jednak wyobrazić sobie właściciela szkoły osiągającej gorsze od zakładanych rezultatów, który zrezygnuje z dochodów i, dla dobra kursantów, uzna, że z powodu nieoptymalnego stosowania metody przestanie reklamować się szyldem „metoda Callana”.
Metoda była badana na polecenie Duke of Edinburgh, który dwa razy w roku zasiadał w komisji obradującej w Buckingham Palace, dyskutującej o nauczaniu j. angielskiego jako j. obcego. David Hicks, jako przewodniczący English Speaking Union, wyznaczył do tego zadania profesora j. ang. w Oxford, Davida Morgana, który stwierdził, że Metoda Callana jest najszybszą metodą, jaką kiedykolwiek poznał. Należy dodać, że profesor Morgan był także inspektorem szkół językowych z ramienia British Council.
Tradycyjne metody są skuteczne, ale nie znaczy to, że inne metody skuteczne nie są.

Nie mam nic przeciwko szkolom które podejumą taką decyzja (not to use the Callan method).
Perhaps you personally don’t have anything against schools that choose not to use the Callan method.
The Callan organisation, however, takes a different view.
Doesn’t the Callan organisation describe the decision not to use the Callan method as ‘immoral’?
Doesn’t the Callan organisation attack the methodology of other schools such as ‘Avalon’ in uncompromising terms?
Isn’t the unsubstantiated claim that the Callan method is ’4 X quicker’ also a claim that other methods are 4 X slower?

You are judging the performance of the Callan method solely by statistics supplied by the Callan organisation itself.
This is akin to judging the ‘achievements’ of Communism according to statistics produced by the Communists themselves.
As far as I am aware, there is no independent, objective academic evidence whatsoever to suggest the Callan method enables students to learn 4 X quicker.
If anyone can supply me with such evidence, I will remove the 9 points, and replace them with a link to Mr Sobek’s site.

I have written to the Duke to ask if he recommends the Callan method, and I will inform you of his reply.
Certainly the Callan method does not have the royal warrant of the Duke of Edingburgh, a list of goods and services recommended ‘by appointment’ to the royal family.
Davida Morgana, stwerdzil że Metoda Callana jest najszybszą metodą jaką kiedykolwiek ponal. Morgan byl także inspektorem szkol językowych z ramienia British Council.
Again, what exactly did Professor Morgan say. Could you find the exact quote?
Regarding the British council, is the Callan school in London accredited by the British council, and if not, why not?
The British council is a highly respected teaching organisation around the world. Do any of its schools anywhere in the world employ the Callan method, and again, if not, why not?
Surely if one of its inspectors found the Callan method to be the quickest method anyone knows it would be ‘immoral’ for British council schools not to use this technique.

This is correct.

This is not correct, I`m judging the possibilities of the method based on my own experience.

It’s also similar to countries announcing their unemployment rate, companies announcing the dividend to its shareholders, governments announcing their achievements etc.

That would be very kind of you. Please also be aware of the fact that the question asked is biased, as "recommends" is worlds apart from "puts to the test". The answer to your inquiry may be negative as the method does not necessarily need to have been recommended.
